When We First is a modern matchmaking company combining professional, human-led matchmaking with technology, coaching, and personalized support. Our matchmakers get to know you beyond a profile, personally search for compatible singles, vet potential introductions, coordinate dates, gather feedback, and guide you throughout your dating journey.

For singles who prefer to date more independently, When We First also offers dating technology designed to complement the human experience, not replace it.

How is When We First different from other options?

When We First combines nearly two decades of professional matchmaking experience with modern technology, a growing network of singles, and personalized dating and relationship coaching.

Instead of relying solely on algorithms or a limited database, our matchmakers use human intuition, interviews, recruiting, and technology to search for compatible introductions.

Our goal isn't to introduce you to the most people. It's to help you meet the right people while becoming a better, more confident and intentional dater along the way

How Much Does Matchmaking Cost ?

When We First offers several levels of professional matchmaking based on the length and scope of your search, number of guaranteed dates, coaching frequency, and level of personalized support.

Our professional matchmaking memberships currently begin at $4,000, with premium memberships available for clients seeking a more extensive search and higher level of service.

We begin with a complimentary discovery call to learn about you and determine which level of service best fits your goals.

We do also offer virtual matchmaking and coaching packages outside of in-person matchmaking.

Is Matchmaking Free?

Professional matchmaking is not a free service.

Our clients are investing in a team of real people who spend time interviewing, searching, recruiting, vetting, coordinating introductions, providing feedback, coaching, and supporting their dating journey.
‍
However, you do not necessarily need to hire a matchmaker to be considered as a potential match for one of our clients. Singles may join our exclusive network for $99 if invited, or be recruited by our team as potential candidates if you are fit for one of our clients.

You can also ask us about joining The Matchmaking Network, our sister company to join a network without going through the matchmaking screening with When We First. Here you can create a complimentary profile and matchmakers can reach out to you if you are a match for one of their clients. No guaranteed dates, just an opportunity to join a network.

Why does matchmaking cost so much money?

A dating app gives you access to a platform. Professional matchmaking gives you people actively working on your behalf.
Your investment supports the time and expertise involved in understanding your search, identifying and recruiting potential matches, conducting interviews, coordinating introductions, gathering feedback, refining the search, and providing ongoing guidance.

We are one of the only matchmaking services that provide coaching INCLUDED in our packages, and is full concerige.

For many of our clients, the value is not simply meeting more people. It's dating more intentionally while saving time and having experienced professionals beside them throughout the process.

How many date guarantees will I receive?

The number of guaranteed dates depends on the membership you're invited to choose.

Our memberships are structured around a defined search period and number of guaranteed dates.

For example, our six-month membership includes 3 guaranteed dates and up to 5 curated matches, while other membership levels offer additional introductions, longer searches, and enhanced support.

Before you join, your membership details, search period, and guaranteed dates are clearly outlined so you know exactly what is included.

How do you find my matches?

We start by getting to know you through a personal interview.
We look beyond basic preferences to understand your values, lifestyle, relationship goals, personality, attraction, dating history, and what matters most to you in a partner. This take a few coaching sessions. Anyone can get out on dates but we want to offer the best support and coaching prior to meeting your first match.

Our matchmakers our private network of clients, and candidates, and can recruit outside of it for appropriate candidates. Potential introductions are personally evaluated by our team. You'll receive information about a potential match before the introduction and have the opportunity to say yes before meeting. We don't simply send you on blind dates. We also have access to a completely separate platform we built to expand our network to singles all over the US called the matchmaking network.

Are my matches vetted?

Yes. Human vetting is an important part of our matchmaking process.
Potential matches are interviewed and evaluated for compatibility before being presented for an introduction on zoom.
We also offer identity verification to add another layer of authenticity and safety.

Everyone agrees to a background check. Unlike an algorithm simply determining that two profiles match, there are real people involved in evaluating whether an introduction makes sense. Intuition and advocation is a part of this process.

Is dating and relationship coaching included?

Yes. Coaching and feedback are an important part of the When We First experience, although the frequency and level of coaching vary by membership.

Depending on your membership, coaching may cover dating mindset, confidence, communication, boundaries, relationship patterns, realistic expectations, attraction, first-date preparation, dating profiles and photos, and navigating specific situations as they arise.

We believe successful matchmaking isn't only about finding matches. It's also about helping our clients become more intentional and successful in the relationships they create.

What happens after each date ?

We don't simply make an introduction and disappear. After each matchmaking date, we gather private feedback to understand what you liked, what you didn't, whether there was mutual interest, and what we can learn from the experience.

Your matchmaker uses that information to continually refine future introductions.
Every date gives us more information about what may ultimately be right for you.

Is When We First safe and confidential ?

Privacy, discretion, and safety are important parts of our matchmaking process.
Matchmaking clients are not placed into a publicly searchable matchmaking database for anyone to browse.

Potential introductions are handled privately, and information is shared as part of the matchmaking process.

We also utilize identity verification and safety tools where applicable and encourage all clients and candidates to follow safe dating practices when meeting someone new.

Do I have to use the When We First dating app to work with a matchmaker?

No. You can work directly with our matchmaking team without using the dating app as your primary way of meeting people.When We First was built to combine technology with human expertise, not replace professional matchmaking with technology.For those who want it, our dating platform provides additional ways to date and access features such as the Human Button™, which connects members with real dating professionals for personalized assistance.For clients who prefer a fully human-led experience, our matchmaking team can manage the search, introductions, scheduling, feedback, and coaching directly.
